How does Botox work?

A tiny amount of Botox is injected with a very small needle into the skin near the sweat glands. Botox stops the sweat glands from producing sweat by blocking the function of the nerves at the sweat gland that stimulate sweat production.

What areas can botox help?

The most common areas for the use of Botox are the armpits, palms and soles of the feet.

Are Botox injections painful?

Whe Botox is injected into the armpits or feet there is a minor stinging sensation, which only lasts for a few seconds. However, injecting into the soles or palm is quite painful due to many individual spots may have to be injected. A local anesthetic may reduce the discomfort.

What will happen after the treatment?

There may be slight swelling at the injected spots that may go away after a few hours. Sometimes there is bruising which will fade after several days.treatment includes massage, exfoliating body scrub, a stimulating back brushing and deep pore cleansing all followed by a soothing antibacterial mask. It is perfect for teens, sports enthusiasts, or anyone with problem skin on their back. It is an excellent treatment before wearing a backless dress.

How long does the benefits of Botox last?

The recovery varies between patients ranging from 3 to 9 months. Once sweat gland function and associated increased sweating returns, repeat Botox injections again to be able to reduce the sweating.

What are possible side effects?

Botox has been used for more than 10 years for the treatment of eye disorders and for the treatment of wrinkles. The most common side effect is a temporary weakness of the muscles near the injection. Muscle function will return in to normal in a few weeks. In some rare cases it has been reported that severe headaches may occur.

How much will it cost?

The cost to have Botox treatments vary depending on the size of the area to be treated and how much will be needed.

What Is a Medical Spa?

The main difference between a medical spa and a day spa is the presence of or an affiliation with a doctor. In order to service medical and beauty treatments such as: laser, IPL, injectables, chemical face peels and medical microdermabrasion you must have an accredited physician on site. It's pampering that makes a difference. The classic day spa will give you beauty treatments and specialize in stress reduction that will make your skin look good for a night or maybe even a week. But if you want to see immediate and lasting results you may have to spend more money that can deliver you the results you're looking for.

A medical spa may take on many different forms such as: A stand alone business, a physician's office or hospital that has a romm devoted to estheticians who offer cosmetic and paramedical services such as: facials, peels and massages. Some medical spas have there own operating rooms. They may also have a staff to make a patient feel more comfortable in the recovery process.

Some medical spas have a certain atmosphere. You won't smell nail polish or chemical like perms or hair color. You should expect a more sterilized, professional and more sophisticated treatment. You may not find the products they carry at a local drug store or a typical cosmetics counter. They may have products of a higher grade.

What Is a Face Lift?

A face lift is a plastic surgery procedure that can remove excess fat, tighten muscles, and redrape the skin of the face, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

As people age, their skin becomes less elastic, particularly on their face. Sometimes, sagging skin around the jaw line or loose skin on the neck becomes particularly noticeable and unflattering. In such circumstances, a face lift, also called a rhytidectomy, can dramatically smooth the skin and improve a person's appearance.

While other procedures can smooth surface wrinkles, only a face lift can tighten sagging facial skin, jowls, double chins, and loose skin. A facelift reshapes the lower one-third of the face, while eyelid surgery and a brow lift address the eyes and forehead.

How long does a face lift take?

A face lift usually takes several hours - longer if you've chosen to add additional facial cosmetic surgery procedures such as:

• a forehead lift (browlift)
• eyelid surgery
• improvements to nose or chin

Where several facial cosmetic surgeries are required, your surgeon may schedule two separate sessions.

The procedure: how is a face lift performed?
Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, pass down in front of the ear and continue behind the earlobe to the lower scalp. During your facial cosmetic surgery, a small incision may also be made under the chin to reshape the neck.

Your facial surgeon will begin your face lift by separating the skin from the fat and muscle below. Fat is delicately trimmed or suctioned to improve contours. Then underlying muscle and membrane is tightened, pulling the skin back so it is smoother, and removes the excess. Your facial surgeon may also bandage your head to minimise bruising and swelling after your standard or endoscopic face lift.

Endoscopic face lift - a new option.

Where there is minimal baggy skin some patients can benefit from a newer subtler approach: an endoscopic face lift.

To perform an endoscopic face lift an endoscope (a small television camera mounted on a thin tube) is inserted through several small and well-hidden incisions behind the hairline. Using this method the surgeon can modify and reshape soft tissues under the skin during the face lift and so can restore more youthful facial contours without long incisions and scars.
The endoscopic face lift is most suitable for patients who are relatively young and whose facial ageing problems do not involve much excess skin. Stitches secure layers of tissue and incisions; metal clips may be used on the scalp. To drain any blood that might collect behind your ears following your facial cosmetic surgery, a tiny tube may be placed temporarily under the skin.

Anesthesia options for your facial cosmetic surgery.
TIVA is a newer anesthetic technique which has risen in profile within the last 5-8 years. It has been made possible with the advent of a new generation of intravenous medications with unique properties. TIVA patients sleep soundly during the entire operation, feeling no pain and experiencing no anxiousness. They wake up quickly and comfortably with no memory of their procedure. Many patients prefer this type of anesthetic to traditional general an aesthetics since they feel comfortable, wake quickly, have less nausea, experience none of the 'hang-over' effects of a full general anesthetic, and therefore can be discharged earlier. TIVA is safe, effective, extremely well tolerated.

Alternatively, some patients and their surgeons may decide that a full general anesthetic is still the best choice. Discuss your options for anesthesia during your consultation with your cosmetic surgeon.

What is a permanent make up artist?p

Permanent Make Up is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as permanent eye shadow, permanent eye liner, permanent lip liner and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips and eyelids. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost it as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia, chemotherapy or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and white spots in the skin such as in vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such as after breast surgery. Other names used are dermapigmentation, micropigmentation, permanent cosmetics and cosmetic tattooing. These procedures are regulated in many countries and states, some of them requiring a registered professional, such as an esthetician, dermatologist, nurse or plastic surgeon to perform it. In the United States and other countries, the inks used in permanent makeup and the pigments in these inks are subject to FDA regulation as cosmetics and color additives.

Advantages of wearing permanent makeup:
Permanent make-up is ideal for on-the-go women who always need to look their best but cannot afford the time to apply make-up throughout the day. At the end of the day, your make-up looks as though it was just freshened. You can select your color of make-up from a wide variety of shades, or a new shade can be created for you. So if you are fashion conscious and want to save time every day and need to look your best in a professional world...then permanent cosmetics is for you.

Whether you desire a soft, natural eyelash enhancement or a bold definitive line, permanent eyeliner can be either a dramatic or subtle enhancement making the eyelashes appear full and lush. Women who use eye make-up always use eyeliner to enlarge there eyes. Most of the time eye liner will smudge and wears off during the day. Sometimes we even have trouble keeping it straight. Permanent eyeliner enhances & defines your eyes making lashes appear thick and lush. Pigment is placed between the lashes building to the clients desired thickness. Permanent eyeliner can be applied in many styles & colors, from soft natural looking enhancement to a more defined look.

Many women complain that over the years, their eyebrows have either been over plucked, or have lightened or thinned with age. Without eyebrows, their eyes seem small and lifeless, giving way to an empty or hollow appearance. Through a process called hair simulation, the detail of each individual simulated hair gives way to a more natural looking eyebrow while matching or blending with any existing hair. This procedure also eliminates gaps, which may have been be caused by scars. Having permanent eyebrows will not only save time spent attempting to draw or fill in both brows, but will frame your eyes and give expression to your face.

What Are The Different Types Of Massages?

MASSAGE - In traditional massage, various levels of pressure and movement are applied to the body's soft tissue -- skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia (membrane which surrounds the muscles). Though there are many specialized massage technique being used today, the most widely practiced is Swedish massage. Swedish massage is built around five basic strokes – effleurage (gliding stroke), petrissage (kneading stroke), friction (steady pressure), tapotement (drumming), and vibration and jostling.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MASSAGES LISTED BELOW:

SWEDISH MASSAGE - best known and most widely practiced approach to massage. It focuses on improving blood flow to the skin and muscle and removing muscle tension. Swedish Massage provides traditional muscle relaxing massage and lowers blood pressure, improves circulation, reduces stress and enhances one’s overall state of health. Swedish massage incorporates a light to medium pressure.

DEEP TISSUE & Trigger Point Therapy - A deeper massage which will use deep, firm pressure to work the muscle tissues. This massage is a great choice relief of chronic tension. uses slow friction and deep finger pressure on body areas suffering from chronic muscle tension or areas that simply ache or feel contracted. This type of massage is useful for areas of hypertension, such as a stiff neck or sore shoulders. Deep tissue work works well in combination with traditional Swedish therapy.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE – All muscle is covered by a thin layer of tissue (fascia) that helps maintain body posture and provides support and strength for the muscles. Fascia can tighten or become stuck in places, constricting muscle and not allowing it to fully relax. With Myofascial Release, the practitioner gently stretched fascia along the direction of the muscle until the tissue releases and is fully elongated. The result of myofascial work is postural improvements and noticeable relaxation of cramped muscle groups.

SPORTS MASSAGE - geared at athletes and fitness enthusiasts, is more vigorous than other forms of massage. Sports massage is used to warm up muscle tissue, assist training, prevent injury, and aid healing in case of soreness or injury. It is used both before and after exercise, as well as in the treatment of sports injuries such as sprains, strains, or tendonitis.

REFLEXOLOGY MASSAGE – Total concentration on the feet, hands and ears. Pressure point therapy on these areas will restore the flow of energy throughout the body. Pressure points on the feet will stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Reflexology is based on the concept that all the organs of the body are mapped to our feet (and hands). Reflexology applies finger pressure, some stretching and movement to pressure points on the feet with the goal of promoting healthy functioning of the body’s various organs.

TROPICAL HAND / FOOT REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENT
Luscious scrubs and reflexology, a wonderful treatment for sore feet and tired hands. Done with or without full-body massage.

SHIATSU MASSAGE - A form of energy work. Shiatsu applies thumb pressure along the meridians (pathways) of the body to restore normal energy flow to all areas of the body. Each meridian corresponds to specific body organs and may be receiving too little or too much energy due to blockages along the meridian. Shiatsu is a good alternative for people with organ level problems. Shiatsu massage will reduce pain relieve pressure points with nurturing, soothing strokes.

LYMPHATIC MASSAGE - A very light, gentle, repetitive stroke is used to stimulate the the activity of the lymphatic system where there is edema. Lymphatic massage is used to reduce swelling resulting from injury or post-surgery.

HOT STONE MASSAGE - For these treatments, the therapist uses heated basalt mineral stones and/or semi-precious stones that represent the chakras. Muscle tension is released as the smooth stones move over the muscle. Heated stones are combined with the Swedish massage techniques to relax and de-stress you.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (CST) – monitors the rhythm fluid that is continuously draining and refilling around our brain and spinal cord. By monitoring the craniosacral rhythm, the therapist discovers where healing is needed and corrects the sources of pain using extremely subtle manipulative techniques. CST is an extremely gentle hands-on technique that causes deep relaxation for the client.

ROLFING - is a system of body restructuring and movement education. It works with the deep myofascial structures of the body in order to release fascial adhesions and allowing the muscles and bones to return to balanced relationships. The focus is on alignment throughout they body - legs, torso, arms, etc… You may want to research more into Rolfing if you have serious postural deviations.

PRE-NATAL MASSAGE
